Age of Empires 2: The Beginning

The Age of Empires begins as the Britons begin to establish their first settlement. However not all goes well as there is unrest among the villagers as their duly electe- erm, self proclaimed king appears to be completely idle.

The effects in this video, while not unusually difficult, were very time consuming to do as it involved a lot of rotoskoping, which is tedious work. But it was worth it, as I believe the effect it yielded was pretty good.
Despite being the fifth Age of Empires 2 video we've made, this one actually takes place first chronologically. I decided early on that we wouldn't necessarily be making the videos in the order they take place, instead laying down some foundational elements and then filling in around them. I think this method, while not suitable for everything, is interesting to try and works well here. -Jeremy
